LISA HANNIGAN AND FRIENDS @ The Queen Elizabeth Hall

Lisa Hannigan is a singer-songwriter from County Meath in Ireland. Her solo debut See Sew, in 2008, resulted in a Mercury Music Prize nomination and platinum sales. She was once the lead in Damien Rice’s band.
This talented live artist supports her second album Passenger, produced by Solomon Burke and Joe Henry. Her seven piece band comprises multi-instrumentalists who include lutes, bottles, glockenspiels and a giant squeeze box.
In personality Lisa Hannigan has a natural charm and grace. She’s warm, gentle and spontaneous and appears to be equally comfortable whether her mood is ridiculous, mischievous or seductive. Her velvety and husky voice is innocent yet mature and has its own distinctive identity, both rich and complex.
She enthusiastically stomped a single foot and moved in jerky half-dances. Her songs were intimate and idiosyncratic tales created using original arrangements which were timelessly beautiful and charismatic.
Lisa Hannigan was excellent. Her fine songs were both delicate and intense. Compelling and powerful, this soulful singer created the elegant feel of a classic music performance.
