Jamie Hartman, an award-winning British singer-songwriter and Ivor Novello award nominee, was once the frontman to Ben’s Brother.
His double A-side single Before I Close My Eyes / Buddha Allah Jesus Jones is released on May 21st 2012 on Flat Cap Records. It follows the release of his acclaimed third debut solo album III.
The recent birth of his daughter is the subject of his bitter-sweet new lullaby Before I Close My Eyes. Before the song was written he received a phone call from a former girlfriend he hadn’t spoken to for years. Sadly, she was only two months from passing away and she asked him to write her a song which he found difficult to complete. He waited until his daughter was born and the song then signified a new beginning. The single’s reverse side Buddha Allah Jesus Jones is about the human need for security and finding something to hold on to.
Fans love Jamie Hartman’s pleasant, approachable personality and personal songs. Unfortunately, despite the charm, passion and sincerity, these songs are disappointing. They’re not sentimental but unfortunately they fail to shine with originality and are quickly forgotten.
