Fighting With Wire sign to Xtra Mile Recordings

| On 16, May 2012

Xtra Mile Recordings are super excited to announce that the formidable hard rockers Fighting With Wire are joining their roster.

They welcome the Derry trio with open arms and plans are already afoot to release their long awaited album ‘Colonel Blood’ on September 24th 2012 (UK + Europe) and September 25th 2012 (North America).

After the success of their debut album ‘Man Vs Monster’ in 2008, FWW were whisked off to the States to sign with a major record label and start work on a new album. This began a roller-coaster 4 year journey through the American music industry, from the highs of recording with legendary producer Nick Raskulinecz (Foo Fighters, Deftones, Danzig…) to the frustration of the album ultimately being shelved.

Years of legal limbo followed with the band existing on the brink of collapse, until they finally extricated themselves from the mess – crucially securing ownership of their recordings in the process. Disillusioned with the music business and with no alternative in sight, the band had decided to release album themselves.

However, having been blown away by the album, and been long-time fans of Fighting With Wire; Xtra Mile have stepped in and offered to give the band the support it needs to give this album the full and proper release it deserves throughout the UK, Europe and North America.

Speaking of the whole experience, lead vocalist Cahir O’Doherty says, “We finished recording our 2nd album in summer 2010 in Nashville with producer Nick Raskulinecz, we were so excited for people to hear it, but unfortunately the label went silent on us. A year and a half later we parted ways but got our record back, we were really back at square one again. But we had this record which we were proud of so we thought we’d put it out ourselves and give it one last tour before calling it a day. Then we got a call from Xtra Mile and a chance to put this record out properly and give it the release it deserves. We are excited again for the first time in two years, this is a label we have always admired and it gives us a chance for a fresh start for Fighting With Wire. We’re very excited and honoured to be a part of the Xtra Mile family, 2012 is shaping up to be great year and we can’t wait for everyone to hear our album!”
