Bob Mould – Copper Blue live dates in June + album reissues
aaamusic | On 13, May 2012
Bob Mould announces three exclusive European dates to coincide with the re-issue of Copper Blue (1992) and File Under Easy Listening (1994), the two seminal albums from his iconic early ‘90s band Sugar.
In addition to the aforementioned Sugar releases, Bob Mould’s 1996 self-titled third solo album (fondly known amongst fans as Hubcap due to the cover shot) will also be reissued, as well as its follow up opus, 1998’s The Last Dog and Pony Show.
All four albums will be released on Edsel Records (of the Demon Group) in June 2012 as Deluxe Expanded editions. As a bonus, Copper Blue will also include in its package Sugar’s six-song Beaster mini album, originally released in 1993.
Through both his solo work and as frontman for late 1970’s post-hardcore legends Husker Du, Bob Mould pioneered a guitar sound that has imprinted a defining influence on a generation; but in the three decades that have encompassed his career thus far, Mould’s greatest success was his stint as lead singer, guitarist and songwriter for Sugar. Internationally hailed at the time of its release, Sugar’s Copper Blue (named ‘Album of the Year’ by NME in 1992) has since become cemented as a landmark album.
Bob Mould will be performing Copper Blue live in its entirety at a very limited number of shows to mark the album’s 20th anniversary. Accompanied by his current band, drummer Jon Wurster (Superchunk, The Mountain Goats) on drums and Jason Narducy on bass, these shows will be Bob Mould’s first European dates since 2009.
