Tim Burgess and Mark Collins (The Charlatans Acoustic) and Willy Mason to headline the regions first ‘Communion Unplugged’ weekend

The North East music scene is in for a real treat next weekend – Friday 11th & Saturday 12th May – as the legendary Tim Burgess and his Charlatans counterpart, Mark Collins, headline Newcastle’s very first ‘Communion Unplugged’ weekend, alongside the iconic American singer/ song-writer, Willy Mason.

Friday night sees the world-renowned Mason headlining this not-to-be missed event, backed with strong support from the amazing Lucy Rose, amongst many others. Saturday not only features the much-anticipated headline show from The Charlatans, but also sets from the exciting and incredible new talents of Ren Harvieu and Josh Kumra.

Formerly known as Ouseburn Unplugged, the event sold out all three nights in 2010 and 2011 at Newcastle’s Cluny – previously featuring artists such as Ben Howard, Get Cape Wear Cape Fly, Little Comets and David McAlmont.

“This year the setting is in a fabulous disused warehouse on the banks of the Tyne, which really excited us”, comments North East gig promoter Steve Davis. “Local artists will also get their chance to shine with the likes of Hartlepool hero’s; The Jar Family, Ajimal, Natasha Haws, The Lake Poets, The Soviets, Motion Tourist and Amy Holford – all will be featuring alongside their idols”

One of the real highlights of the weekend is an intimate book reading with Tim Burgess from the Charlatans, who will read extracts from his recently released memoirs, which has fast become the ‘must-read’ biography of the year – hear Tim discuss the mad life of a rock star, the dynamics of the band, the creativity and self-destruction, the sex, the drugs  and also very much, the rock ‘n roll –  in his own words. This is set to be a truly very special event.

Weekend tickets are just £25 and day tickets are priced at £15.
