No Ceremony/// – Heartbreak

No Ceremony/// are a Mancunian act which has guarded its anonymity closely. Are they a duo? Are they a collective? Who knows. All of this secrecy heightens the wonder and excitement you feel when you encounter this release, their single Heartbreak. It is music to dance to and to feel doomed to, while still cheering and raising your fist in the air. No Ceremony/// sounds like a loud mash between Daft Punk and New Order. The guest appearance of Joey Santiago from the Pixies on the title track only helps it achieve the guitar epicness it deserves. B-side Breakinghearts reaffirms their musical ethos with auto-tuned vocals and machine-gun soundscapes, mixing in both electronic instruments and guitars. In all this fierceness the sound stays catchy and melodic. No Ceremony/// have already achieved cult status, and rightfully so; theirs is a masked sonic revolution.
