Niko – You’re So Boring
aaamusic | On 07, May 2012
The hypnotic drum beats draw you in from the beginning, accompanied by melodic harmonies and a bass-line that’ll follow you around all day. It’s insanely catchy, but is it also good?
Soft synth contrasts with the blunt tone of Niko’s vocals. The music and vocals aren’t the most impressive, but they are polished and the song is an interesting modern take on the theme of a failing relationship.
‘Say something original before I go home… But it’s your video games and your mobile phone and your TV dinners, you can do it on your own. Maybe when you’re forty-two you’ll find something better to do. Every single day is the same, oh same old things you’re doing. Nothing ever really does change, you know it’s really boring.’
The lyrics paint a portrait of how some modern relationships can be. Technological advances have made a lot of people more boring, as Niko puts it. The lyrics are blunt but they tell a story that needs telling.
Overall it’s a catchy song with a strong female attitude and an interesting message about modern life. Certainly worth three minutes of your time, a lot better than what you hear in the charts anyway.
