Following the debut performance of Ecclesia at the legendary Berghain club in Berlin on Wednesday, Forss released the Ecclesia album on the iPad on Thursday.
You can read more about the app on our previous post HERE
In a digital age of innovation and evolution, the app for Ecclesia is amongst the first of its kind of album release and presents a wholly personal and intuitive format. The app is a stunning audio-visual creation which when launched perfectly merges the beautiful electronic music with breath-taking scenes of album art that the user is drawn into, and in which the journey has subtle effects on the music and vice-versa.
With the music composed with fragments of sounds and atmospheres recorded in churches across the world, the concept of the app is as a cathedral fragmented into individual sculptures which complement the deep and voluminous sounds that invite the user to step inside and explore.
“Each track has its own sculpture that you enter into and you can simply swipe between them as you ascend towards the heavens, as it were.” Forss explains, “Whereas traditional album artwork has lost its significance due to the overwhelming success of digital music and portable devices, music apps have opened a whole new door for visuals accompanying audio releases.”
A preview video of the app can be seen HERE as well as a simple web app preview on forssmusic.com. The full album will be available to stream and download from June 12th 2012.
