The Mojo Fins – The Spirit EP

| On 29, Apr 2012

Brighton-based The Mojo Fins release The Spirit EP, four songs of first class pure British pop, between Elbow and the early Coldplay.
Recorded at the Rockfield Studio, the legendary base for the likes of Iggy Pop and Steve Albini, Spirit was produced by Manic Street Preachers and Idlewild mastermind Dave Eringa.
The result is four handcrafted gems of soft melodies and original atmospheres.
Sweet Spirit, as its name says, is melancholic and deep, mixing the Elbow of Cast of Thousands to the early Genesis. Palace of Memory, probably the best of the lot, starts like the Apollo atmospheres of Brian Eno and then develops a crescendo of emotions thanks to swinging percussions and the warm and delicate pitch of Stephen Brett.
K2 keeps a slow pace and recreates a world where Elliot Smith is still alive; echoes of the last works of Ryan Adams seem quite strong here, like in closing track When I Go, where the Adams of Love Is Hell meets a gentle piano in the background and creates the perfect closure for this EP.
Masterfully arranged, The Spirit EP will be out in May via Amazon Records.
