Underneath the Balance is the second single from Hamburg’s In Golden Tears. The single is a mix of haunting vocals, pulsating baselines, melodic synth and the heartbeat of drums to make for something pretty powerful. The song has a dark and melancholic feel to it, much down to Patrick H. Kowalewski’s cold yet excellent vocals.

The music video for the song captures this cold and sinister beauty. The themes of race, romance and especially death are very prominent (with the conflict of metaphorical chess pieces, dead birds and the burning of butterflies). It’s a morbid representation of the world.

The song, alongside the first single, Urban Emotions, are sure to become staples in the band’s upcoming European tour. In the UK the band will be playing shows in London, Harlow and Brighton.
