Burials are a hardcore band that brings their onslaught at you in full force of shouting noise mongering. They are slightly more to the sound of the Gallows or Heights and are just gathering their live legs. Their CD was highly praised and tonights performance shows their is something their but this is not their crowd so they are a bit wasted on this line-up.
Silent Decent frontman might look like Jared Leto but they don’t sound anything like 30 seconds to Mars. They have a gimp Esq keyboard player that produces sounds that can only be compared to the Acid Rave scene of the 90’s like bands like Altern 8 and early Prodigy, they mix this sound with a generic type of metal which sounds more complicated and a lot better on CD than it does tonight. Half the band are very young and they need to gain experience and a live presence that can only come with playing but I think when gathered will bring the band to the next level. They have a lot of promise so I think they can produce so really good material.
Scarred by Beauty produce an appalling brand of metalcore hardcore and out of time beats. Their performance is so lack luster that you wonder why they are so high up the bill. I looked for redeeming factors about the band and kept going back to see if I was mistaken by the poor quality before my eyes but each time was grated with a band that just simply have nothing to offer. The dead lay Waiting always play with really interesting bands so how this band got on the bill I have just no idea their is just nothing to them they are as blank as my bank balance.
The Dead lay Waiting delight us with a short but hard hitting set of new songs and a few old classics. They have changed the tuning for the new material and it really works producing a new sound which they have done for each album. The band have been left a bit by the sideline with hardly any promotion for this gig at all, so the band should be down hearted by this. They just deliver the same hard hitting aggression every night no matter how many people are in the venue and are the cream of the Deathcore scene and are really giving bands like Bring me the Horizon and While they Sleep a run for their money. They have a great look behind them brought to the frontline by singer Luke Lukas who is so sweet that you can’t believe he can produce such evil vocals and kind of gives the appeal behind the band. Then you have an amazing skilled axeman in the form was Ben Connett. This is the band we have all lay waiting for this is the Dead lay Waiting. They should be playing to huge crowds of scene kids and be on leading the new Kidcore revolution that’s what the band called Suffocation call it anyways. This is one of your new favourite bands they can scream they can show you Iron Maiden style riffs and they can hit you in to a beat down like any band from this genre. They can also produce catchy friendly songs likes ‘The days I’m Gone’ before they have a mass stage invasion to finish of the night, why no one has noticed this band I have no idea.
