Hamburg based In Golden Tears are proof the German music scene has more to offer than just Rammstein and Kraftwerk. After forming a year ago IGT have taken a different, more international approach to things. Despite only releasing one track online the band has already completed a full UK headline tour as well as receiving global acclaim from the blogosphere.
New single ‘Underneath The Balance’ is due for release in the UK on April 23rd via Humming Records / Rough Trade as a limited edition 7’’ and digital download. With ‘Underneath The Balance’ IGT have lived up to the German perfectionist stereotype going through 4 studios and as many producers before they found the sound they so desired.
With such a marathon production process behind them IGT will be undertaking a tour of similar scale to support the single. Their first headline European tour sees them visit 10 countries and 40 cities throughout the Spring and Summer of 2012. They have also been confirmed to play the legendary Sziget Festival in Budapest along with The Great Escape, Brighton. UK dates are as below, while a full list of European appearances can be found here.
Thu May 10 – Electric Showrooms – London, United Kingdom
Fri May 11 – The Great Escape Festival / Alternative Escape – Brighton, United Kingdom
Sat May 12 – The Square – Harlow, United Kingdom
Sun May 13 – The Old Queens Head – London, United Kingdom
In Golden Tears’ uplifting pop is driven by pumping bass lines and echoing drum sounds that make their way through a dark shadowy wall of synthesizers. Add to this clean cut guitar sounds that has been likened to Interpol and Foals. Capped off by Patrick H Kowalewski’s gripping, stentorian vocals, IGT’s songs are sure to stay on the listeners mind long after the final chords have been struck.
In Golden Tears are Patrick H. Kowalewski (Vocals, Guitar), Mats Dörband (Bass), Patrick Behrens (Vocals, Guitar), Robin Shaw (Drums) and Max Schild (Keyboard, Synthesizer).
