Holy Esque – Holy Esque EP

| On 23, Apr 2012

Scottish indie band Holy Esque is the new name from Glasgow. Ayoung band, they aren’t in their twenties yet. They formed only few months ago. And they are very talented. Their debut self-titled EP will be released tomorrow 23rd of April.
The 4 tracks EP is a powerful post-punk record full of energy and passion.
Lead singer Pat Hynes’ vocals stand out, intense, different. The scratching and disturbing sound of his voice together with the upbeat rhythmic of Ralph McClure (drums), the obsessive guitars of Hugo McGinley and the keys of Keir Reid create a very interesting combination of post-punk and 90s style alternative guitar driven rock.
Anthem songs like Ladybird Love and Rose are ready for big crowds and indie radios listeners. Ladybird Love’s wall of sound reminds the Glasvegas epic structures. About the song, Pat Hynes says: “Ladybird Love was written during our first trip to London. Despite the upbeat intensity of the song, it walks through a pretty dark place.”
An EP remarkably produced by Kevin Burleigh (Glasvegas, Simple Minds, Supernaturals), Holy Esque is definitely a band to follow. Rose is the tune that will make your head shake and dance immediately, kinda catchy and infectious, powerful and accessible.
