The Bersarin Quartett, part of the neo-classical/ambient movement, originally comprised solely of Thomas Bucker, an unconventional and talented electronic artist. With two guest musicians, it then became a group project in 2011.
His self-titled debut album received considerable critical acclaim. The 2nd album, entitled “II”, will be released on April 20th, 2012 on Denovali, four years after the debut.
Within the class and sophisticated charm of the II album there’s an extraordinary beauty. This music captivates by a stunningly lush swell of warm, interwoven strings and choral climaxes. It’s relatively complex, but also highly emotional, stimulating and imaginative.
There’s a dark edge with a creeping terror which drives you compulsively towards images of despair, sorrow and loneliness. But, with fresh changing moods and different styles, you also take a moving journey through joy, hope, peace and glory.
Whilst graceful and experimental, the album remains unhurried, accessible and unpretentious. Celestial in feel, it could almost have been written on board a spaceship observing our our planet. This is ethereal and intelligent music.
