The Sea – New York

| On 09, Apr 2012

The Sea are a pop-rock duo consisting of Peter (vocals, guitar and keyboard) and Alex D’Chisholm (vocals and drums). Having supported the likes of Muse, The Gossip and The Kills, and headlining tours and festivals across Europe, The Sea are making quite a splash in the music world.

With their new album, Rooftops, being set for release in May, The Sea give an in advance glance as to what can be expected on the record. Being that their 2009 debut album, Get It Back, and singles, such as Love Love Love, have received much acclaim from the likes of Kerrang, NME and many more, a lot is expected from their new release.

New York is a catchy and polished release and makes for an excellent first single from the new album. Simple, yet rhythmic guitar and drums meet the soar of brass and vocal harmonies. New York reels in the listener like all good singles should, it’s very well produced and this is bound to work in the band’s favour. The band has a sound which fits in very well with the current music scene. It’s nothing experimental or challenging but it fulfils its purpose: it’s a good, catchy wave of indie-pop. It looks as though the band have another successful year ahead of them. Certainly worth a look.
