The Milk @ Scala

London, 4th April
I personally had never heard of The Milk and as I got to the venue I saw posters and stickers containing people with cats heads so I didn’t know what to expect. They come onstage with a good stage presence and deliver a funk rock Maroon 5 Esq experimental type of rock. I seem to know the songs even thou I didn’t know the name of the band. They announce that tonights performance will not contain any breaks and just continuous music. Which is a good policy to have and means tonight that they manage to fit more songs into their sets short time frame. The Milk are radio friendly poppy funk music with a little twist and mix up their music with a good dance floor vibe. The crowd is pretty packed with a crowd really looking forward to seeing the band some that have only recently got into the band and have never seen them live so are really looking forward to it. The singer Rick Nunn looks like a model and maybe that’s why a big proportion of the crowd tonight are women and he really knows how to manage the crowd. Also with the funk they have elements of soul and think have taken some influence from 90’s Indie, Funk band Rootjoose and the Cornwall surfing sound and they are quite technical so they deliver a well polished performance tonight and I think we will be hearing more from the Milk in the future on the radio and TV I can see their stuff going down well as backing music to shows and series.
