BRYAN FERRY
CHIC feat. NILE RODGERS
added to the GuilFest 2012 Line Up!
Organisers have scored a major coup for GuilFest 2012 as Art Rock legend BRYAN FERRY CBE is confirmed to headline the main stage on the night of Sunday 15th July at GuilFest 2012. Regarded as the embodiment of high glamour, romance and stylishness for nearly four decades, Bryan is literally a household name in the UK, and has achieved phenomenal worldwide success – as a solo artist recording huge hits like “Let’s Stick Together”, “Slave to Love”, and “This Is Tomorrow” whilst notching up a total of 9 UK top ten albums, including 1985’s number 1, “Boys and Girls”; as well as with Roxy Music – rated by Rolling Stone magazine as one of the 100 Greatest Artists of All Time, and responsible for 11 UK top ten albums including tracks such as “Love is The Drug”, “Dance Away”, “More Than This”, and the wonderful John Lennon cover “Jealous Guy”.
Bryan’s suave, cool poise and smooth ultra-modern voice, combined with oh-so-tight backing band, great visuals and sharp suits have made his critically acclaimed live shows the stuff of legend. You can expect to hear a lively set of his solo work, peppered with his renowned unique interpretations of other people’s songs as well as familiar Roxy Music classics. This show is sure to provide a fantastic close to the main stage at GuilFest 2012, don’t miss it!
Supporting Bryan Ferry on Sunday 15th July are Disco titans CHIC feat. NILE RODGERS. Probably the most influential band of the Disco era, Chic are responsible for such classics as “Le Freak”, “Good Times” (sampled by hiphop pioneers The Sugar Hill Gang for their incredible single “Rappers Delight”), “Everybody Dance,” and “I Want Your Love.” Honoured at the dance music hall of fame ceremony as Artist Inductees, Record Inductees and Producer Inductees, Chic have been cited as a major influence to massive artists as diverse as Queen, The Smiths, Blondie and Duran Duran.
Nile Rodgers is very highly regarded for his producing talent and was honoured in 1996 as Top Producer in The World by BillBoard magazine. On top of his work with Chic, he has produced many hugely popular albums, including Sister Sledge’s “We Are Family”, Diana Ross’s “Diana”, Duran Duran’s “Notorious” and Debbie Harry’s debut solo album “KooKoo”, while being cited as co-producer on David Bowie’s “Let’s Dance” and Madonna’s “Like A Virgin”. Organisers are delighted to have a group with such a high pedigree performing at the festival, for what will no doubt be an explosive show!
Bryan Ferry & CHIC join already announced superstars Olly Murrs (headlining Friday), and Jools Holland and His Rhythm and Blues Orchestra feat. Roland Gift, (headlining Saturday); as well as Tim Minchen, Jimmy Cliff and a GuilFest line up that will continue to grow over the coming months to a massive 200 bands performing across 9 music stages over the 3 days of the festival. As regular visitors will know however, GuilFest is not just about the music and throughout the site there is a plethora of activities and shows to keep you entertained all weekend. You will find the eFestivals’ Cosmic Comedy Tent, returning with a fantastic line up of side splitting comics, The Man In The Moon Theatre Tent, featuring performances from Burlesque Cabaret to Shakespeare, The 70s Disco, Farmer Giles Barn Dance, Massive 150ft Beer Tent, Art & Craft Village, Calypso Cocktail Bar, Street Performers, Food Stalls from Around The World, Our amazing KidZone (which last year featured VIP guest appearances from Peppa Pig) and much, much more!
