Hello Lazarus – Hello Lazarus (E.P)

| On 01, Apr 2012

Bristol trio Hello Lazarus provide us with a textbook example of the importance of production, and not in the good way. They sound like they have an abundance of talent, they know exactly what they’re doing and can bring out an stonker of a chorus when they feel like it, unfortunately, this E.P is kneecapped before it can even get going by its atrocious production. Taking away every ounce of power that the songs demand, they sound lifeless, limp and linear. And it’s honestly a crying shame, these guys are touring this month and I strongly recommend you go down and check them out if, like me, you feel that the British post-hardcore scene of the mid 2000’s should never have ended. Marking themselves out from the mountain of Biffy Clyro copyists by seamlessly melding both the heavier style of the early records with the whole “Being the biggest rock band in Britain” thing they have going on now. If you can get past the production here, then many, many pleasure lie within, it’s just that is a lot easier said than done. Look these guys up and check them out live, I have a feeling that’s the quintessential Hello Lazarus experience, but if you must, check this E.P out.
