Super Best Friends Club debut single ‘Yes You Are’ + gig dates

| On 18, Mar 2012

On April 9th 2012 new London sextet Super Best Friends Club present their debut single ‘Yes You Are’, and b-side ‘Evolution’. Esoteric, idiosyncratic and ecstatic, these contrasting pieces highlight a band brimming with ideas, utilizing versatile styles that are united by their ability to sound both evocative and totally fresh.

The fantastical technicolor pop of lead track ‘Yes You Are’ brings to mind elements of Penguin Café Orchestra, Everything Everything and Animal Collective, whilst the tribal psychedelia of flip-side ‘Evolution’ channels Can and Blodwyn Pig’s classic ‘Sing Me A Song That I Know’, to intoxicating effect.

The band came together when drummer Max Hallett was one of the emerging artists invited to participate in the ‘Takeover’ residence at the Royal Festival Hall. He was asked to perform live and roped in some like-minded friends. They locked themselves in a room for 48 hours and came up with a half hour experience based on optimism, nudity, body paint, frantic dance routines and blissed out pop. Doing the show got them so excited that they couldn’t stop, and this became Super Best Friends Club.
