Loudon Wainwright III is a legendary American songwriter, folk singer, humourist and actor. He was awarded a Grammy for his 2009 release High Wide & Handsome – The Charlie Poole Project.
His 22nd album, Older Than My Old Man Now, will be released on April 17th, 2012 on 2nd Story Sound Records. The idea is that he’s now older than his father (the famous Life Magazine columnist Loudon Wainwright Junior).
It features 15 original lyrical songs inspired by his own family. All four of Loudon’s children, Rufus and Martha Wainwright, Lucy Wainwright Roche , Lexie Kelly Wainwright and two of their three mothers, Suzzy Roche and Ritamarie Kelly, contributed to the album. Ramblin’ Jack Elliott, Dame Edna Everage, John Scofield, and Chris Smither also appear as guests on the album.
Reflectively, Loudon Wainwright takes you on personal journey through a wealth of experiences. With sharp wit and wisdom, he tackles both the seriousness of mortality and the hilariousness of sex. The Here & the Now tells about his swinging life in a brief three minutes! His live performances have always reflected his considerable talent and a refreshing wish not to be taken too seriously.
