ATOM EYE – Part II Trilogy

| On 17, Mar 2012

Atom Eye is Elsie Martins’ side project whilst she steps temporarily aside from Phantom.  She takes raw recordings and turns them into compositions and rhythms which are dark, intense and transient.

Part II Trilogy is released on 12th March, 2012 on La Nausee Records. It features a guest appearance from award-winning percussionist Pete Lockett (Bjork, David Holmes, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Lee Scratch Perry and Primal Scream). It was mixed by James Aparicio (Liars and Spiritualized).

This is an experimental drone ambient instrumental which is influenced by cinematic film soundtracks, experimental music and sound art. It’s intriguing music which is powerful and surreal. You’re introduced to childhood laughter which builds, then disappears and gradually you’re absorbed into some terrifying nightmare. However, I’d be reluctant to describe this as the ‘gorgeous’ work of a skilful genius, as some seem to believe.

The London film collective Yeast has created three short films to complement the Trilogy. They’ll be available to view once Trilogy Part III completes this project on 30th April, 2012.
