Introducing Dark Dark Horse // ‘Ethics’ (featuring member of Maybeshewill)

| On 08, Mar 2012

Dark Dark Horse is the collaboration of producer Jamie Ward (ex Kyte/ Maybeshewill) and singer James Stafford. A mix of Jamie’s enchanting Eric Satie meets New Order electronics and James’ emotive world weary voice. When they play live they are joined by Joe Norledge and Robin Southby. They hail from the leafy countryside of Leicestershire, UK.

After posting some initial demos online the power of the internet began to propel the bands music round the world. Typically this meant that the first label to take a shine to the band was based 5000 miles away from their hometown with Japanese label Rallye (Toro Y Moi, Au Revoir Simone, The Joy Formidable) offering to release an album.

After releasing their debut album ‘Centuries’ in Japan at the end of last year the band are now setting their sites a little closer to home, gaining day time national radio play, impressing BBC 6 Music’s Tom Robinson enough for him to ask them in for an interview and being asked to play the Drowned in Sound stage at this years Summer Sundae Festival.

‘Ethics’ is just a taste of Dark Dark Horse’s material and the haunting video for the track is online at darkdarkhorse.com where the song is also available to download for free.

an amazing listen, through and through. Centuries is a highlight of 2010, and something not to be missed.” – Sputnikmusic.com 4.5/5

Dark Dark Horse really are terrific” – Tom Robinson BBC 6

Dark Dark Horse’s Ethics is still one of the most affecting and gorgeous tracks around.” – Chris Martin Amazing Radio/NME Radio

I love the contrast between the harshly synthetic beats and the soft, lapsing vocals of this track. – Jen Long BBC Radio 1

The music is atmospheric and broody, neo-classical and edgy. Music of this nature seems to be pouring out by the bucket load but Dark Dark Horse seem to have something different, something special.” – The Monograph.co.uk
