Oxford, 15th February
Alvin Risk is an up-coming Electronic Dub-Step DJ and a ‘Radiohead’ fan so he is happy to be in the venue that the band used to own. He really gets the crowd going running through some of his own songs plus chart hits. Everyone is jumping around like they are in competition with a Kangeroo, he is definitely a talent that should be watched and the crowd are really into him which is a good
sign.
Skrillex is the name of the moment just winning 3 Grammy’s and tonight is two days later and his chance to shine. Sadly they could not fit the amazing Cell into this night’s venue which is a bit sad no cell on the ‘Cell Tour’ and it is something to be witnessed, if you don’t know what the Cell is then I’ll explain.
The cell is a futurist backdrop that goes round him like a fortress and they project awesome images on to it, he also wears a total emersion suit that as he moves a Robert on the screen behind him moves the same. It is quite something to be witnessed. As they say the show still must go on. What he doesn’t know is that the venue is actually going to get trashed tonight.
He runs through songs off his new EP ‘Bangarang’ and plays songs from that including ‘Right In, Bangarang and Breakin’ a Sweat’ the crowd is manic jumping around to every song and pushing their way to the front.
Skrillex is form tonight and keeps smiling at the crowd as he throws his hands into the air as scientific images come on the screen behind him. He also plays the anthem of everyone at the moments weekend ‘Weekends!!!’ as long as the ‘Benny Benassi’ cover of ‘Cinema’ which has been a big hit for Skrillex. And the set is bought to a climax with ‘My name is Skrillex’ his theme tune and the amazing ‘First of the Year (Equinox). He gives a farewell wave to screams and you look around the venue to see the carnage there is water all over the floor and broken chairs and stuff falling of the wall. They actual have to close the venue for an hour as they clean it up so they can let the ‘Fuzzy Ducks’ crowd in after, A famous club night that they have at the venue. It was a great night and you can see why he is so popular at the moment.
