Decapitated / Aborted @ Sub89

| On 04, Mar 2012

Reading, 29th February

Aborted are from Belgium apparently and they have been around for quite a while but they are really back on form with ‘Global Flatline’ their new album being a belter. They have mixed hardcore with death meal on this album and it has some really hard hitting tunes on there. The Artwork is awesome and looks really cool draped all over the stage it’s very similar to stuff old thrash band ‘Municipal Waste’ use and I personally love it. It makes a good background for the band to take the stage to as they play five songs off the new record. The singer ‘ Sven “Svencho” de Caluwé’ really has control of the crowd tonight; he has the power in the palm of his hand. If he tells them to do a circle pit they do, if he tells them to do a wall of death they do a wall of death. Guitarist ‘Eran Segal’ plays the song with ease as the rest of the band bang their heads. There is a nice aggression behind them and when they break a string they do it with style. They definitely have new life in them and the people that have come along seem to love the new songs. So the atmosphere is good for when,

Decapitated take to the stage, ‘Decapitated’ are one of the unluckiest bands in the world, but they come back in full-force tonight and my ears are still in pain from the onslaught. They only have one guitar player so my mind boggles!!! To know how they can be so loud.
The new singer ‘Rafał “Rasta” Piotrowski’ is wearing a make ‘Covan’ wake the fuck up t-shirt to raise money for him. ‘ Adrian Covan Kowanek’ is the previous singer who is in a coma at the moment and the T-shirt is also to raise awareness to the condition he is in. ‘Rafal’ then announces that they will be playing a benefit show for him at the ‘London Underworld’ in August before screaming the first lyrics to the next song into the mic. He starts spinning his head round while singing and he dreads fly everywhere as guitarist ‘Waclaw Vogg Kieltyka’ plays an amazing looking ‘Dean’ guitar that used to belong to ‘Matt Heafy’ of American metal giants ‘Trivium’. ‘Decapitated’ new line-up is a well oiled machine with not a not out of place. They run through songs from the past and the present; this band have been going for a long time now and the new members are really doing the old songs justice. This is why the band is so popular with metal fans at the moment, and you will find their shows always full with a mass of people always buying tickets on the door. ‘Decapitated have really shown that they can still produce a great live show.
