Heretics tonight is one guy even thou it is normally two, maybe he needs a futuristic robot to help him out tonight, I think not cause this one man seems to make a nice sound on his own, with deep vocals sounding like ‘And One’ or another big band from the German scene I think this guy will go far.
Dreams Divide put on an impressive show of dance floor fillers and really get the crowd into a party mood. Their show is full of some good material but the backing vocals do go a bit out of tune at times, but with a little more practice they would sound amazing. The band is pretty new and have gone a long way their sound goes back to the 80’s but they put a modern day twist on it too.
Method Cell are a bit of a disappointment, I have heard the record loads and I do enjoy them but their stage presence is a bit lacking. They are camp and artistic and it is not really so tonight with the show being a bit lacking and they play remixes of their songs like ‘Scissors’ that do sound good but don’t really have life in them, which is a real disappointment I just think they were not really trying unlike.
Clan of Xymox start off their set with smoke and a ‘Cure’ feel about them tonight’s set is mostly filled with their classic goth selection.
They open with the classic song ‘Stranger’ which sounds like ‘The Cure’ on acid and is a great opener. The stage is full of more smoke than a tunnel on the old steam railways so you have to look carefully to make out the band in certain points of the set. They are missing half the band tonight but as they play ‘Hail Mary’ everyone is in the dancing mood anyways so it doesn’t really matter and the sound is deep and dark. So the mood is created for one of their best songs ‘Emily’ which kills the hearts of people in the club tonight.
Halfway through they do a really slow but interesting cover of ‘David Bowie’s’ hero, before delighting us to a song about all the people they wish to get rid of in the world, it’s for all the people they hate and it’s called ‘Delete’ and is one of my personal favourites. This is classic goth at its best but the clan are more than that they can really mix it up and produce genres from Darkwave, EBM to indie and Dance so are a delight to everyone. And singer Ronny just looks too cool for school and as a kid I wanted to be him myself so it’s great to see him in form tonight. This is a one of show in the UK for them and it’s in a venue much smaller than they are used to and they have done this so they can get close to the fans, so there is a fan club feel to the show. If you missed this one you are a fool cause it’s a rare chance to see them on their best form.
The goth has been put back into Slimelights.
