THE STRANGLERS – Giants
aaamusic | On 26, Feb 2012
Legendary British band The Stranglers originated from the UK punk scene of the mid to late 1970s. Over five decades they’ve had 23 UK top 40 singles and 17 UK top 40 albums. Their well known hits include Peaches, Golden Brown and Walk On By.
The Stranglers are Jet Black (drums), JJ Burnel (bass and lead vocals), Dave Greenfield (keyboards) and Baz Warne (guitar and lead vocals).
Their last two titles, Norfolk Coast (2004) and Suite XVI (2006) were extremely successful.
They release their 17th album Giants on March 5th, 2012. Their extensive European tour, beginning with eighteen dates in the UK, starts on 1st March, 2012.
There’s much variety to this album. Adios is a quirky, heavy metal tango oddity whilst Freedom Is Insane is urgent and inventive, contrasting with the gentle acoustics of My Fickle Resolve.
This playful and long surviving group can be praised through adapting and surviving various musical fashions. Their latest album feels at ease, natural and confident. Its content is diverse and presented in a crisp, vibrant and energetic way. This is an impressive and intelligent album containing original material from a classic group which intends to “carry on till the creative juices have run out.”
