PRINZHORN DANCE SCHOOL – CLAY CLASS

2012 sees the comeback of Prinzhorn Dance School with second album Clay Class – a mature work which boosts the refined work of DFA as producer.
Tobin Prinz (vocals and guitar) and Suzi Horn (vocals and bass guitar) chose Happy in Bits as the opening track, a sure hit.
Rhythmic cadences, which are a stamp mark of the PDS sound, are even clearer in tracks such as Usurper, Your Fire Has Gone Out, Turn up the light and Seed Crop Harvest – the latter two unveiled as previously unreleased tracks during the first tour.
I Want You is the peak of the album, the most intense and musically surprising, with its unexpected decadent new wave/post punk echo.
Crisis Team and The Flora and Fauna of Britain in Bloom (what an amazing title!) have their strength in the bass guitar riffs which stick in your head and won’t leave you alone.
Sing Orderly and Right Night Kay West lead you to the brilliant final track Shake The Jar, where the vocals of Tobin and Suzi harmonise in a natural, sober way and without the need of special effects, with the addition of only the alienating guitar and bass guitar riffs (and the occasional drum beats), which make the track a claustrophobic trip, terribly fascinating.
