DAMON DWYER – Hot Food
aaamusic | On 26, Feb 2012
Damon Dwyer is an acoustic guitarist and singer-songwriter from Chesham, Bucks in the UK.
Traditionally he’s followed classic songwriters like James Taylor, Paul Simon, Neil Young and Roy Harper. More contemporary influences from Ireland include Damien Rice, The Frames and Declan O’Rourke.
Damon worked with Chris Taylor at Bluebarn Studios in Ely to produce his new 11 track album Hot Food, just released. Chris mixed and engineered Simply Red and Roots Manuva.
In the Morning is about the abrupt wake-up call we sometimes get when we’re reminded that we need to make the most of every single moment. Hot Food has curious lyrics about luck, courage, success and personal determination: “we’ll silence the critics; they’ll eat their own lunch.” Drowning is an eloquent and emotional story of loss with a sense of optimism.
Relatively new to the music world, Damon Dwyer has an honest and reflective style where he sings about lessons have been learnt. There’s a warmth and charm to his enjoyable, mellow vocals. But, please don’t eat the CD which is illustrated as a sandwich!
