Vinyl Jacket Unveil New Single Details

| On 23, Feb 2012

Vinyl Jacket are a young five piece that hail from the small village of Wylam in Northumberland creating their unique brand of upbeat, off-kilter Pop. Having only formed early 2010 Vinyl Jacket toured the UK and supported the likes of Hockey, General Fiasco and The Holloways. Their self titled EP released in June 2010 gained them airplay on BBC 6 Music, BBC Radio Newcastle, BBC Tees & Amazing Radio, a feature in Newcastle’s Culture Magazine and saw them develop an ever growing fan base.

The band performed at a showcase event in front of Tom Robinson who picked them as his standout band stating that Vinyl Jacket ‘blew him away’ proclaiming them to be ‘world class!’ This led to further airplay on 6Music and the band headlining the BBC Introducing Stage at In the City 2010. Their track Broken Record topped the Amazing Radio Chart in December 2010 after a successful viral video got fans voting for the song that also topped the Best of Myspace chart. The band was also PRS Artist of the Week for the first week of 2011 and featured on the Radio 1 BBC Introducing week on the Chris Moyles Breakfast Show.

Their debut single Painting Stations (21.02.11) received airplay from Chris Moyles, Huw Stephens (track of the week), Steve Lamacq, Lauren Laverne, Tom Robinson and Capital FM as well as a ‘New Blood’ feature in Artrocker Magazine.  They followed up the single by touring the UK as well as supporting Little Comets, playing Liverpool Sound City and opening the main stage at Evolution Festival. The band also played the BBC Introducing Stage at Glastonbury Festival this year after being selected by a panel that included Zane Lowe, Jo Whiley and Emily Eavis.

Koala (18.07.11) received plays from XFM’s John Kennedy, 6Music’s Lauren Laverne & Tom Robinson and was again a Huw Stephens tip of the week that resulted in him inviting Vinyl Jacket down for a Radio 1 session at the famous Maida Vale studios.

Vinyl Jacket follow up the success of 2011 with their third single ‘Red Light’ released 5th March 2012, the single is backed by an exclusive remix by Mercury-nominated artist Everything Everything.  The single has already been played by Huw Stephens on Radio1 who has invited the band to play a Huw Stephens presents… show at The Social, London on 14th February with a UK tour in April and European dates to follow later in the year.
