Laura J Martin – The Hangman Tree
aaamusic | On 16, Jan 2012
Welcome to The Hangman Tree, a fairytale of a talented poly-instrumentist that uses a mix of electronic and old-fashioned mastery in order to imbue her music of magic. Quirky and classic at the same time, The Hangman Tree is a symphony of flute, mandolin, guitar, and xylophone, all played by Laura herself. Take Vashti Bunjan, spice it up with an Anderson-esque touch, add the pop knowledge of Kate Bush, and you will have half an hour of ageless beauty.
Don’t miss Spy, a single Laura almost break the boundaries between folk and world music, and the breath-taking litany Sleepwalker, probably the peak of the album.
Laura will tour throughout the whole month, performing in London, at Rough Trade Records Shop on 23rd January.
