Introducing Juan Zelada

New hotly tipped Universal signing, Juan Zelada is set to release his debut album ‘High Ceilings and Collarbones’ on April 16th with Decca Records. Zelada will also be headlining the Borderline on Jan 19th ahead of his single release ‘What Do I Know’ on Feb 5th.
‘High Ceilings and Collarbones’ is a delicious mix of joyful upbeat tracks like ‘Breakfast In Spitalfields’, ‘Four Days’ and ‘Don’t You Hold Me Down’, which reside comfortably alongside the more melancholic and reflective sounds of songs like ‘Elsewhere’, ‘I Can’t Love’ and ‘Satisfied’. ‘High Ceilings & Collarbones’ was entirely self -penned by Zelada and recorded at Metropolis, Abbey Road and Rockfield Studios in Wales. The album was co-produced with Matt Lawrence (Ellie Goulding, James Morrison) and mixed by Danton Supple, best known for his work with Coldplay.
Zelada’s fresh and life affirming sound is one that’s hard to pigeonhole, he has already been compared to Paulo Nutini and Jack Johnson but perhaps the best evaluation of the band’s music so far has been “Ben Folds meets the Dave Matthews Band”.
2011 was a really exciting year for Zelada, seeing him quickly become one of the most talked about names on the music scene. His first two singles released last year, ‘Breakfast in Spitalfields’ and ‘The Blues Remain’, both received Record of the Week and A-playlist status on Radio 2 alongside rave reviews in the music and lifestyle press.
Now, with his timelessly crafted sound and classic good looks, the multi-talented pianist, guitarist and songwriter is ready to charm 2012. Already confirmed for HMV’s Next Big Thing on 5th Feb, followed by a UK headline tour in March/April and a slot at the Secret Garden Party festival on Friday 19th July, things are looking bright!
