This HotSessions compilation comes from the reputable HotFridge Records label, and this particular release – HotSessions 01 – is the first of the dance compilation series, mixed by label heads Dan McKie & ABX. It offers cuts of tech-house, electro-house, and just regular home-grown house. All the songs, though having slight progressive edges, are nice and accessible. Relative unknowns sit next to big dogs like Crookers and Doorly, with Doorly’s remix of Starjacker’s ‘Something Happened’ being the comp-highlight. HotSessions 01 is standard club music – finely mixed and produced, and showcases the best of the current house scene (which, to be honest, is starting to sound a little thin in general).
