SACRED HARP – Window’s A Fall
aaamusic | On 10, Dec 2011
Sacred Harp is a quartet from Oslo, Norway which creates original arrangements out of improvisational and experimental music. In style they’re a little like Mercury Rev and Portishead.
The group comprises: Jessica Sligter (vocals, guitar, keys), Juhani Silvola (guitar, bass, keys), Øystein Skar (keys) and Andreas Lønmo Knudsrød (drums).
Their full length debut album Window’s a Fall will be released on December 12th, 2011 on Brainlove Records. Found In The Open Country has bewildering off-key instruments and vocals. In Florida Lights the initial softness is disrupted by progressive heavy metal and Horses For Sophia is oddly confusing and haunting.
Sacred Harp uses their imaginative and distinctive style to combine new wave, indie, gothic, rock, blues and jazz. You’ll be startled by these weird and disjointed sounds which are intensely appealing and colourful.
Tracks: 1. Found In The Open (The Underlaying Deep Structure) 2. Florida Lights 3. Red/Three 4. Julie 5. Melato 6. Birds of Winter 7. Horses of Sophia 8.Thief.
