IARLA O’LIONAIRD – Foxlight

| On 10, Dec 2011

Many folk enthusiasts will know Iarla O’Lionaird as the vocalist in Afro Celt Sound System and from the Irish Sean nós singing tradition. He sings on the Peter Gabriel album Ovo.

Solo albums Seven Steps to Mercy and Invisible Fields brought great acclaim and confirmed him as an ambitious singer and recording artist with a unique voice.

His broad experience has taken ideas from diverse sources but, though traditional, his music is difficult to classify.

On Foxlight , his fourth solo album, published by Real World, he is joined by guitarist and producer Leo Abrahams. This is an outstanding and original album which is both passionate and personal. It’s contemporary with a reflective and natural feel which is enjoyable and relaxing. Like the cover artwork, it shimmers with beauty whether or not you understand the Gaelic language.

Tracks: 1. The Heart Of The World 2. Daybreak 3. Fainne Geal An Lae 4. Glistening Fields 5. Eleanor Plunkett 6. Foxlight 7. The Goat Song 8. For The Heavens 9. Hand In Hand 10. Imeacht 11. Seven Suns 12. Stay.
