Mina Tindle isn’t a name we’re all extremely familiar with but it’s in front of a one a fair few people are, Mina Tindle is the extra identity of soloist and musician Pauline, known well throughout France for her collaborations with Toy Fight, The Limes and the incredible JP Nataf.
Opener To Carry Many Small Things introduces the EP, with a simple keyboard introduction before the vocals float in above the music. It’s a very simple song that remains balanced throughout it’s duration, the lyrics may be a little hard to distinguish at times but for the remainder it’s nice to listen to the self made percussion before leading through into Bells.
Both Bells and Echo are the stand out tracks from the recorded six, with an international feel added to a Plain White T’s crossed with Snow Patrol and a slight bit of Irish rockers The Script they both flow with a little bit more rhythm than the rest of the EP.
Henry follows effortlessly after, the shortest song on the EP, gives a much more fun and lively vibe even though the beat still stays as slow and relaxed as the last four songs. There’s a lot more musical variation in terms of the bass, adding a tambourine and the same recurring keyboard tune. The vocals are, this time at least, delivered clear and much more pleasing for the ears.
Towards the end of the EP it does seem as if Mina Tindle has finally woken up, there’s news of a slight guitar riff throughout Some Things Last A Long Time. The vocals are simple and almost captivating, with a balanced sound and entirely understandable lyrics it’s starting to send off the EP on a high note.
Final track Plein Nord has a very indie edge to it, the steady strum of the acoustic guitar and audible chord changes gives off that vibe, Tindle’s voice remains calm and relaxed giving the EP the final sending off.
It’s an EP to listen to when it’s raining and you’re drifting off to sleep for sure, imagine the Twilight series soundtracks and it should certainly have it’s place there.
