Dear reader, take it from me. You’ve read the title of this single right. The B-Side of this single is a song, written, recorded and deemed worth of release with the title Sexy Cupcake Ditty. And it is exactly what it says on the tin. Except it’s about as sexy as John Prescott getting a colonic. About as pleasurable to listen to as well. Fortunately, the A Side is as quietly fantastic as the B side is soul-sapping. Beguiling harmonies, Erin K’s impeccably tuneful voice, understated, yet strangely exhilarating drums and a subtle, yet catchy guitar line. Pretend the B-Side is just Coins on repeat and you’ve got yourself one of the best debut singles of the year, perhaps one of the year’s best in general. Single-handedly justifies the existence on the usually furiously pretentious anti-folk movement, and for that, it deserves every ounce of recognition it gets.
