One year after eponymous EP, Northern Irish More Than Conquerors release Boots and Bones, an EP of five songs including A Lion, A Man, latest single released in May.

 

With a sound that draws references from Biffy Clyro to Midlake, More Than Conquerors are a four piece made up of Kris Platt, Danny Ball, Jamie Neish and Danny Morton, who started playing together in 2009 and got recently signed by Smalltown America.

 

Despite of interesting and powerful excerpts (especially in A Man, A Lion), Boots and Bones seems incomplete and hasty. Vague desires of Queens Of The Stone Age fade away with dull riffs and uninventive melodies, as in the forgettable Bear Knuckle Fight. The potential expressed in the first release seems something of the past and this EP released, well, just to release something.

 

Hopefully the next singles will show that spark of energy that is gone AWOL and re-light a glimmering of hope.
