Blank Spaces hails from London and records everything to tape in his small bedroom based analogue studio. In preparation for the release of their debut EP ‘Start’ on Popular Recordings, Blank Spaces is offering up his off-kilter, blissed-out pop in the form of free download, ‘Hold Fast’.

 

With guitar being the only self-proclaimed “instrument I’m ok at, I muddle through the rest to make the recordings”, Blank Spaces, is a self-recorded project, with the vision of taking David Byrne’s ‘Psycho Killer’ over 808 beats at the beginning of Stop Making Sense, and mixing it with New Order’s ‘Age Of Consent’ and ‘Johnny & Mary’ by Robert Palmer.

 

A slow-burning indie gem, skewing between dream-like choruses and verses characterised by interlocking bass and drums and crooned vocals. ‘Hold Fast,’ certainly seems a suitable title; it’s the perfect soundtrack for late night driving.

 

Available to download now from the Blank Spaces band camp ‘Hold Fast’ will be followed by the January 2012 release of debut EP ‘Start’ on Popular Recordings. You can also catch the band at their next show on November 10^th at Electricity Showrooms, London.
