aaamusic | On 08, Nov 2011
British jazz trombonist Chris Barber celebrates his 62nd year as a bandleader in 2011, and Boisdale of Canary wharf is delighted to welcome him to the bandstand on 3rd December.
Chris formed his first Barber New Orleans Band in 1949 at the age of nineteen, and since then has performed over 10,000 concerts and made thousands of recordings. He has earned the admiration of fellow stars from across the musical spectrum, with artists including Van Morrison, Jools Holland, Mark Knopfler and Eric Clapton all appearing on his latest album from earlier this year, Memories Of My Trip.
Chris Barber keeps marching on with the latest incarnation of his ongoing group, the BIG Chris Barber band. Audiences can expect a host of trad treats from the undisputed master – combined with Boisdale’s wonderfully stocked restaurant and whisky bar, this is a sumptuous evening’s entertainment not to be missed.
