Waiting for a new album, coming in spring 2012, Ólöf Arnalds provides further evidence of class with Ólöf Sings, an EP of covers.
Arthur Russel, Bruce Springsteen, Neil Diamond, Bob Dylan, and Caetano Veloso get the Ólöf treatment with excellent results. Soft and intense, these five songs enchant and keep warm, Ólöf’s voice bridging Joanna Newsom with Nico’s distant memories.
Four more songs and a video of Surrender will be available on the release day via digital platforms: That Lucky Old Sun, Instants and Sukiyaki originally appeared as b-sides while Ég Umvef Hjarta Mitt originally appeared on a compilation album called Vertical Integration released on the Second Language label in 2010.
