Moon Duo – Horror Tour EP

Say goodbye to the upbeat atmospheres of Mazes, it’s Halloween after all, and enter the cold cave of Horror Tour. Colorado-based band Moon Duo releases a new EP in the name of new explorations into Kraut landscapes and VU’s follies.Let’s start with the opening Horror Tour.
This is the only track with a vocal support, sounding like a jam session between David Bowie and John Cale. The beauty of Horror Tour is in the capacity of Moon Duo of recreating hypnotic atmospheres without seeming repetitive and un-original.
With Causing a Rainbow Ripley Johnson and Sanae Yamada come back to more familiar shores, the ones watered by Neu!-like beats and Death In June’s guitars.Sickener, in our modest opinion the best piece of the lot, is a magnificent 10 minutes-long cavalcade that trespasses the borders of 1970s Germany and dives into the profundities of post-rock.
Beautifully sickened by apocalyptic distortions, we hang desperately and find comfort in the cycling drumbeats.
The circle is closed by the meditative Circle of Evocation Pt.2, as relaxing as a F14 Tomcat revving in a pond.
Limited to 1000 copies, Horror Tour has not be missed also for its Savage Wolf cover.
