The Wombats – triple whammy of ‘1996’ remixes

Currently embarking upon near sold-out UK tour, The Wombats put the finishing touches to a triumphant year with the release of the new single ‘1996’ on November 7th on 14th Floor / Warner Bros. Records.
Recorded in Los Angeles with producer Eric Valentine (Queens of the Stone Age, Lostprophets), the single’s synth-rock leanings add another unpredictable element to the sound of this most uncompromising of twenty-first century pop bands. As with the best of frontman Murph’s confessional-based songwriting, ‘1996’ yearns for the nostalgia of the past.
2011 has seen The Wombats make huge strides forward with the release of their second album ‘The Wombats proudly present… This Modern Glitch’ which peaked at #3 and featured some of their most popular singles to date including ‘Tokyo (Vampires and Wolves)’, ‘Jump Into The Fog’ and ‘Anti-D’. The Wombats subsequently become one of the stand-out names on this summer’s festival circuit with headline sets at Lovebox and Wakestock as well as other major events including Glastonbury, V, Radio 1’s Big Weekend and Rockness.
The band recently completed a sold-out tour that included a sold-out Brixton 02 Academy date. They’re now scheduled to play three homecoming gigs at Liverpool’s O2 Academy as well as a recently added Brixton show.
