BBC RADIO 1’s LIVE LOUNGE VOLUME 6 RELEASED 31 OCTOBER – 2CD/DOWNLOAD FEATURING TRACKS FROM JESSIE J, ADELE, ED SHEERAN, BIRDY, AND TAKE THAT

BBC Radio 1’s Live Lounge Volume 6 is the much-anticipated annual round-up of the best of 2011’s Live Lounge sessions, released on 31 October through Sony Music. Featuring debut recordings from the breakthrough artists of the year, such as Jessie J, Birdy and Ed Sheeran, as well as legendary superstars Take That and classic covers from the likes of Example and Vampire Weekend.

The Live Lounge Series has sold over 2.5 million copies to date with this release being the sixth volume in the fantastic collection. The sessions started 10 years ago with Jo Whiley on Radio 1’s lunchtime show, and are now hosted by Fearne Cotton. BBC Radio 1’s Live Lounge Volume 6 is a stunning set of 40 fantastic tracks and unique cover versions, all stripped down and recorded live in the famous Maida Vale Studio.

Cover versions featured on this 2-CD album include Birdy’s ‘Shelter’, originally by The XX, and Miles Kane’s take on Emile Sande’s amazing track ‘Heaven’, Friendly Fires version of Lady Gaga’s ‘The Edge of Glory’, The Kooks doing Foster The People’s ‘Pumped up Kicks’ and Everything Everything’s alternative version of ‘What’s My Name?’ by Rihanna– as well as some surprising covers from Taio Cruz, Avril Lavigne, Mark Ronson and many more.

 

In addition to these unique takes on some of the most popular songs of the year, this collection also features classic Live Lounge session tracks such as Jessie J ‘Price Tag’, Adele ‘Rolling In The Deep, Take That ‘The Flood’, and Two Door Cinema Club ‘Something Good Can Work’, all recorded exclusively for the Live Lounge.
