Thomas Truax // October Song // Farewell Tour
aaamusic | On 23, Oct 2011
On the surface Thomas Truax’s new single ‘Everything’s Gone Halloween’ -the October entry from his ‘Monthly Journal’ living album project – appears to be in the great tradition of somewhat silly Halloween novelty songs, though it’s modern in it’s intricate construction and cinematic production. Played mostly on self-made instrument the ‘Hornicator’ it’s also embellished with strings, sound effects and spookiness including a decidedly Hollywood sounding wind. References to a haunted house and a permeating feeling of dis-ease may also reflect Thomas’s current state of challenges as he prepares to uproot from his home of the last few years in London (due to UK work visa limits) and head for an uncertain future in Berlin (a move he currently sees as temporary). The song rolls in at just under 3 minutes.
