With two albums under their belt, Aurora (2009) and more recently The Archer Trilogy Pt.2 , released in August of this year, The Deer Tracks (Elin Lindfors and David Lehnberg) present the follow up single Fra Ro Raa / Ro Ra Fraa on Monday 21st November.
Hailing from a small town in the outlands of Sweden, The Deer Tracks are inspired by their small community traditions, haunting woodland scenery and the magical Swedish landscape. Not your average band, The Deer Tracks are a puzzle of contradictions. Though not related Lindfors & Lehnberg have a kind of sibling symmetry. Deeply symbiotic, David is the black to Elin’s stark, crystalline white. Even their approach to recording reflects this organic and polar vibe. Ensconced in David’s grandmother’s cabin, deep in the back woods of the far flung Swedish wilderness, using objects found in and around the cabin to provide a unique trove of instrumentation, the album and its ensuing singles were not so much recorded as hewn or perhaps conjured using strange and ancient spells.
Fra Ro Raa / Ro Ra Fraa, the follow up single to the new album is a weird and wonderful track. Its unusual name is almost an incantation or some kind of chant to be muttered and held close through traumatic times. A stand out track from the album Fra Ro Raa / Ro Ra Fraa fuses pop, dance, electro and synthy elements in a composition that is as intricate as it is sparse and glacial.
The Deer Tracks will be emerging from their woodland bower in October and November to play some very special UK live shows, they are truly not to be missed. Let them cast their spell and take you on a Scandinavian journey like no other.
