Saw Surfer Blood for the first time almost two years ago during an Interpol tour and was love at first sight. Nobody has ever been able to elevate college rock to noble science as this four-piece from South Florida.

Tarot Classics marks a change from Astro Coast. Here the sound is dry, tightened up and Weezer-ed-up. Tracks like I’m Not Ready will surely find space in the next live acts, while Miranda and Voyager Reprise mark new melodic explorations; that said, it’s the closing Drinking Problem that opens the Q&A at the end of the lecture; if this is the new path taken by Surfer Blood, you can bet we bloody like it!

Tarot Classic is out on Kanine Records on 25th October, and will include bonus remixes by Totally Sincere (aka Connor Hanwick of the Drums and Peggy Wang of The Pains of Being Pure at Heart), San Francisco based Speculator, School Of Seven Bells and Allen Blickle.
