Monarchy – You Don’t Want to Dance With Me (feat. Britt Love)

Right at the start of You Don’t Want to Dance With Me by Monarchy featuring Britt Love there is humming. No it’s an electrical fault it’s coming from the vocals. That about sums up this song. Humming. Background noise.
It starts and it finish and everything in between just happens. According to the Soundcloud it is about a ‘love ignored’ so you be expecting some kind of emotional track but alas there is little emotion to be found beyond the whine of the vocals. Although credit does to Britt Love whose vocal do sound good on this. But apart from that just sounds like an over-emotional sixth former at the end of year disco getting teary eyed about not having the courage to ask the girl he’s liked since the acne-clad days of the first year for a dance.
For a track that’s trying to convey emotion the backing track sounds uninterested. The Deadmau5 style oscillating synths just whirring along in the background while then beat plods through. To save it from complete boredom it is well produced but that’s about it.
The only word that springs to mind about this track is boring. Even writing about it is boring as I don’t anything to write about that how lacking in everything it is! So I’ll just end it here in need of coffee to wake up from 3.28 minutes of one good vocal performance buoyed by tedious dance production.
