Lindi Ortega, sometimes affectionately known as Indie Lindi, is an alternative country singer-songwriter and musician based in Toronto, Canada. She’s been compared with Dolly Parton, Johnny Cash, and Emmylou Harris.

Her latest album, Little Red Boots, was released on Last Gang Records on September 12th, 2011. It’s named after the red boots that she acquired while on tour with Kevin Costner.

Little Lie, the first debut single from the album, is great fun. It’s fast paced, vibrant and exciting. The sound of it is fresh. It’s about the last moments of a relationship which isn’t going anywhere. The little lie happens when what is honest and obvious tends to be ignored.

This is distinctive folk with a southern vibe. When Lindi Ortega hits the high notes she’s excellently backed by her talented band: guitarist Kevin Breit, bassist Dave Piltch, drummer Davide Direnzo and keys from Ron Lopata.

 

She’s Toronto’s best kept secret with a sparkling energy and charm. Even if you don’t like country, you’ll like this.
