With cojones the size of cartwheels and the horsepower to deliver, The Minutes were born in Dublin in the mid-Noughties out of a shared love of NYC punk rock, The Smiths and Thin Lizzy. The band’s new single ‘Black Keys’ shall be released on November 7th through Model Citizen Records; the first song to be taken from their debut album – ‘Marcata’ – which will follow early in 2012.

Investing in some serious vintage amplification, the band has honed their craft on the Irish gig circuit and beyond. The Minutes have developed a classic power trio sound, channelling the primal surge of rampant garage rock ‘n’ roll with elements of the blues and gospel. Support slots along the way with Supergrass, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club and The Von Bondies have helped introduce them to audiences bored with identikit Indie and hungry for something more urgent and direct. Eleven gigs in three days at 2010’s SXSW festival cemented The Minutes reputation as gig-thirsty tour monsters with the tunes to match the swagger.

New single ‘Black Keys’ is one such example, as singer Mark Austin explains;

“‘Black Keys’ is usually the opener in our set and sets the tone for the show that’s ahead. We’re the kinda band that like to put on a proper show for our audiences and make every gig count whether its 30 or 3000 people. The shows are always loud and full of energy.”

The Minutes will be bringing their molten-hot throb to the UK this autumn, announced as main support for Flogging Molly alongside a string of further shows. Don’t miss ‘em!
