Alpines to support Emeli Sandé on three tour dates
aaamusic | On 07, Oct 2011
Alpines have announced three live shows supporting rising soul star Emeli Sandé in Bristol, Brighton and London in November.
In the wake of receiving critical acclaim for their debut offering and a number of online tastemaker tips, the duo from South London have already played for excited crowds up and down the country, including a successful Glastonbury jaunt and a rousing set at Secret Garden Party and a tour support with The Naked And Famous.
Alpines combine the electric and ethereal sonic landscapes of producer/guitarist Bob Matthews with the ghostly, spectral vocals of Catherine Pockson. Taking inspiration from Cocteau Twins, Eurythmics and Portishead, this is pop music with a deeper and darker tone, but with a richness in sound that makes it a unique listen.
With Catherine’s intense vocal and inimitable style paired with the otherworldly musical construct of Bob Matthews’ production, Alpines have garnered attention from key trend setters from across the music and fashion scenes.
Alpines see their music as part of a whole aesthetic of words, sounds and images that reflect how we live now, Cocoon being a perfect example of this.
Bob Matthews sums it up best, ‘We want to make pop music, but we want to be a little deeper and darker than what you hear in the charts.’
